Wetherby: 15mm of rain in a single day left the interviewing no opportunity

THE wet weather features left its mark-on the leaps fixture record with Wetherby and Thurles abandoning their Friday conferences, whilst weekend cards at Wincanton and Ffos Las are also known as off.

Wetherby’s chances had been referred to as “slim” on Wednesday and a further 15mm of rainfall immediately eliminated any hopes at 8.30am inspection.

This course tweeted on Thursday early morning: “regrettably, the battle meeting has been abandoned after another 15mm rain instantaneously, leaving the track waterlogged.

“We're incredibly dissatisfied by this abandonment, but we now have had more than 120mm rainfall since Christmas time Day.”

Annual badge holders at Wetherby can get free entry at Doncaster’s meeting on Friday, where floor happens to be described as hefty, smooth in places.

Officials at Thurles were forced to make the exact same choice after hefty rainfall overnight and into Thursday morning.

Wincanton's installation was subject to a check at noon on Thursday, but 10mm of rain in a single day scuppered any potential for the card beating sun and rain.

Sunday's meeting at Ffos Las hinged on a hastily-arranged inspection at 1pm on Thursday and never even after it became modern abandonment, with all the track waterlogged.
